Cockroach Janta Party Raises Alarm Over Detention of Student Protesters, Demands Immediate Release and Withdrawal of FIRs

New Delhi, July 28, 2026

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has issued a strongly worded statement expressing concern over reports that student protesters and other demonstrators have allegedly been detained or arrested by authorities in several states, particularly Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar.

According to the statement, the party had suspended its nationwide protest movement only after receiving assurances from the Government of India that no punitive or retaliatory action would be taken against participants in the demonstrations, especially in BJP-ruled and NDA-ruled states.

CJP Alleges Breach of Government Assurances

The party claimed that reports of arrests and detentions contradict the assurances it says were given by the central government. It described the developments as a "matter of grave concern" and urged the government to uphold its commitment.

CJP stated that its legal team has been working with lawyers across the affected states since the beginning of the protests to provide legal assistance and secure the release of those detained.

Demand for Immediate Action

In its statement, the party called upon the Government of India, particularly Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh, to:

  • Ensure the immediate release of all detained protesters.
  • Prevent any coercive or retaliatory action against demonstrators.
  • Withdraw all FIRs registered in connection with the protests.
  • Honour the assurances allegedly provided during discussions with the party.

The party also reminded the government of what it described as a commitment to provide a written guarantee by Tuesday, July 28, 2026, regarding protection for protesters.

Protest Suspension Was Based on Good Faith, Says Party

The CJP said its decision to suspend the nationwide agitation was made in good faith, believing that the government would honour its assurances. It warned that any deviation from those commitments would amount to a breach of trust not only with the party but also with thousands of young Indians who chose dialogue over continued protests.

The statement emphasized that public confidence in the government depends on fulfilling promises rather than merely making them.

Message to Student Protesters

Addressing the youth directly, the party urged protesters to remain patient, assuring them that it continues to monitor the situation closely. It reiterated its demand that all detainees be released and all FIRs withdrawn without delay.

The party also indicated that it would consider taking further steps if the demands are not met within the stated timeline.

Government Response Awaited

As of the time of publication, there has been no official response from the Government of India regarding the allegations made in the statement or the reported detentions. Authorities have also not publicly commented on the party's demand for the withdrawal of FIRs.

The situation is expected to remain under close watch as both the government and protest organizers prepare for further developments in the coming days.
